The STEM Connection is a non-profit corporation aimed at facilitating hands-on, minds-on, feet-on-the ground science, technology, engineering and math experiences at Moore Road Farm and other educational sites. The STEM Connection 30 acre outdoor learning site at Moore Road Farm is in the Traders Point Rural Historic District conveniently located on the northwest side of Indianapolis. The ecosystems of the farm include deciduous forest, Eagle Creek, fields of crops and a garden open for exploration and learning. Programming is built on the Indiana Academic Standards and is connected with ongoing conservation projects that honor the land and waterways of Indiana and seeks to grant access to those underrepresented in the STEM fields.

The STEM Connection serves over 5,000 yearly!

What is STEM?

STEM is an acronym that stands for; Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Science is the study of the natural world. Technology is any tool that helps us do work. Engineering is way of thinking to solve problems. Math is a language related to quantities and measurements. STEM involves art and design so we build it in to our quality programming.

Our Goals

We want to breakdown stereotypes related to STEM, to challenge all children to be their best, and to provide meaningful learning opportunities which engage and encourage. Programming includes year round STEM field trips, STEM@Night, STEM summer camps, STEM Family Events, and STEM professional development for parents teachers, administrators, and out-of-school time professionals. Outcomes reveal that children involved in our programming for at least 10 hours self reported growth in STEM Interest, STEM identity, STEM Career Knowledge, and STEM Career Interest at an average of 97.5%.
