AYS Camp Field Trips Recap

The last week of June was a very busy one for The STEM Connection and Moore Road Farm! We had the opportunity to facilitate field trips for all of the At Your School (AYS) summer camp kids. Throughout the week, we had over 600 campers and counselors participate in a variety of citizen science activities! The field trips focused on the idea that everyone can be a citizen scientist and we can all contribute to keeping Indiana’s waterways
clean and healthy.

Camp AYS kids spent time on the farm learning about the importance of water and ways humans can impact the waterways in Indiana. Students learned about water as a limited resource, water pollution, and the characteristics of a healthy waterway. They had the chance to go for hikes, participate in a scavenger hunt, map Eagle Creek, go creek stomping, and participate in gathering data about Eagle Creek for Hoosier Riverwatch. It was a busy week, but one that included lots of learning and fun!

As the afternoons ended, campers often asked if they could stay longer or come back soon. As we say to everyone that participates in our programming, “Come back soon and often!”.
